About Mesodyne
Mesodyne develops compact thermophotovoltaic generators for portable and remote power. LightCell burns a liquid or gaseous fuel in a microcombustor, heats a wavelength-selective emitter and converts the resulting light into electricity with photovoltaic cells, eliminating the pistons and rotating machinery of a conventional engine.
Each developing unit targets roughly 100 to 300 watts, selectable DC output and a dry weight below 4.5 kilograms. Gasoline, diesel, propane, jet fuel and hydrogen can supply the modular system. Quiet, low-vibration and low-signature operation targets uncrewed aircraft and vessels, remote instruments, communications and dismounted military users. Mesodyne is moving LightCell through prototype integration and field evaluation under US defence contracts.
