PAA Automation builds laboratory workcells that combine robotic handling with instruments from multiple vendors. Its systems move plates, tubes and samples between liquid handlers, incubators, readers, centrifuges and storage devices, while S-RUN and Overlord software schedule the process and manage instrument communication. S-CEL provides an enclosed configuration for workflows requiring a controlled biosafety environment.

The company develops both compact task-specific cells and larger integrated laboratories for drug discovery, genomics, diagnostics, sample management and analytical chemistry. Smart Cart modules and a library of more than 400 device drivers allow customers to change or extend instruments without rebuilding the entire control layer. PAA has delivered more than 1,000 projects and works with over 80 instrument partners. Certain business assets were acquired by Grenova in 2025, placing PAA within a broader laboratory-automation group while retaining its integration identity.

    PAA and Grenova remain independently operated sister companies within the acquiring parent organization. The group combines PAA laboratory robotics and orchestration software with Grenova's consumables-reuse systems.   • 2025-09-09 - Partnership - PAA and diaago partner to distribute KX-2 laboratory robots

    diaago added PAA robots and software to its laboratory-equipment portfolio, with the KX-2 as the first stocked offering. The partnership combines PAA engineering with diaago distribution and support for North American life-science laboratories. KX-2 can connect with recappers, tube handlers, thawing stations and other instruments to create configurable automated workflows.

  • 2024-10-06 - Deployment - PAA deploys four-robot cold-storage workcell at Lab Cerba

    The workcell uses four Mitsubishi Electric FR-Series SCARA robots alongside Lab Cerba's existing total laboratory automation system. PAA designed the system to handle different tube sizes and storage temperatures while processing up to 2,000 samples per hour. Mitsubishi MELSEC iQ-R controls coordinate the robots, MR-J4 servos and E800 variable-speed drives across the handling cell.
