About VI-grade
VI-grade connects vehicle models with the physical interfaces used by drivers and test engineers. A simulator can place a real cockpit and dashboard inside a controlled virtual scenario, allowing teams to evaluate controls and human-machine interfaces while changing the conditions around the driver. Other applications address ride and handling, vehicle sound and driver-assistance functions.
The company’s approach links simulation with physical testing. Measurements from real equipment refine the virtual model, while simulation helps determine which physical tests to perform. Software and hardware sensors can be introduced into the loop when evaluating an automated function. This allows an engineering programme to use related models and test arrangements as it moves from early design decisions toward validation.

- 2024-04-04 - Commercial Order - Alpine Cars selects two VI-grade simulators
The STATIC Simulator supports detailed vehicle models and can later expand into dynamic simulation. The COMPACT Full-Spectrum system combines motion, vibration and sound for battery-electric vehicle evaluation. Alpine intends to accelerate vehicle-dynamics development while reducing dependence on physical prototypes.

The turnkey system was installed at CEVT's Uni3 by Geely campus in Gothenburg. Its configuration combined the DiM250 platform, VI-DriveSim software and active belts, seat, brake and shakers. CEVT uses the simulator to expand research and development for future mobility programs.

The second DiM250 was designated for Goodyear's Colmar-Berg innovation center in Luxembourg. Another DiM250 was already operating at company headquarters in Akron, Ohio. Both sites also used VI-grade COMPACT systems to support virtual tire development workflows.

The Luxembourg innovation center had received a COMPACT Simulator for virtual tire development. A DiM250 dynamic simulator was scheduled for installation at Goodyear's Akron, Ohio center.
