Phoenix

About

About Phoenix

Phoenix is Sanctuary AI’s humanoid development platform for dexterous manipulation and the collection of physical training data. It combines an upper body, two arms and robotic hands with the Carbon control system. The programme includes several generations. Published dimensions and payload for the original 2023 robot describe that historical configuration.

Generation 8 uses a wheeled base and was designed around higher-quality data capture, improved depth and vision cameras, upgraded telemetry and person–robot interaction. Later tactile sensing supports touch feedback for teleoperation pilots. These systems connect human-guided work with learning for more autonomous manipulation. Phoenix remains one embodiment in Sanctuary’s development programme; the company’s current industrial Physical AI offering also runs on other robot hardware. Performance reported for a separate industrial installation does not describe the full Phoenix platform.
