About

About NIOA

NIOA combines defence-product supply with engineering, qualification and manufacturing partnerships. Its Australian industrial programmes bring overseas technology providers and local suppliers into production projects, including a renewed agreement with L3Harris in April 2026 to explore domestic manufacture of guided-weapons components.

Counter-drone development follows the same partnership model. Hydrix supports electronics design and integration, while NIOA contributes ordnance engineering, manufacturing and qualification expertise. Their May 2026 agreement covers payload sub-components for small uncrewed aircraft. This work extends NIOA's established ammunition and weapons operations into counter-UAS programmes, with delivery organised around specialist suppliers and Australian defence requirements.
