About Aquatonomy
Aquatonomy develops autonomous underwater inspection systems for submerged infrastructure and vessels. Its robots navigate GPS-denied water and capture three-dimensional scans plus other sensor data when turbidity removes normal camera visibility. The resulting measurement-grade digital twins let engineers inspect, measure and compare dams, gates, water intakes, bridges, piers and ship hulls with less dependence on manual dive surveys.
The autonomy stack combines localization, mapping, planning and a patent-pending sensor arrangement to produce repeatable coverage of complex structures. Data from successive inspections can be aligned to identify changes, track defects and support predictive maintenance. Aquatonomy is working through pilot-customer deployments and field validation for hydropower, shipping and civil-infrastructure owners.

- 2023-06-29 - Award - Aquatonomy selected for inaugural Robotics Factory accelerator cohort
Aquatonomy entered a seven-month programme offering up to $100,000 of funding, mentorship and robotics manufacturing resources. The company was selected for autonomous underwater visual intelligence for submerged structures and challenging environments. The cohort connected founders with Pittsburgh robotics companies and national and global industrial partners.
