About RIEGL
RIEGL's measurement workflow connects laser returns with the position and orientation of the scanner to create georeferenced point clouds. RiACQUIRE handles field collection, while RiPROCESS manages calibration, processing and visual inspection. Its waveform tools extract returns and resolve range ambiguities before transforming measurements into a common coordinate system.
The software is paired with the company's instruments across airborne, vehicle-mounted and terrestrial survey workflows. Bathymetric processing adds water-surface classification and refraction correction for underwater mapping, while other modules classify terrain, vegetation and buildings. Libraries, a ROS driver and GIS plugins give integrators routes to use RIEGL data in robotic platforms and downstream mapping software.

Dufour supplied its AeroMini and Aero2 uncrewed aircraft platforms for the multi-month test programme. RIEGL supplied the laser scanners and supported their integration with the aircraft. BSF Swissphoto assessed data and commercial workflows while SLF checked data quality for applied-science use cases.

The Croatian survey company began operating a miniVUX-SYS integrated with a DJI M300 multicopter in November 2022. The system supported faster survey-grade field capture and access to difficult terrain. Geometricus selected the higher-end VUX-160 for longer-range and wider-area projects after its initial operating experience.
