About Valeo
Valeo supplies the sensing and perception layers used by vehicle manufacturers to build assisted and automated-driving functions. Its portfolio includes cameras, ultrasonic sensors, conventional and high-definition radar, thermal imaging and SCALA LiDAR. Sensor data is processed through embedded software that detects road geometry, vehicles, vulnerable road users and free space before passing the interpreted scene to planning and control systems.
SCALA 3 produces up to 12.5 million points per second, with a stated 200 m range at ten-percent reflectivity and a 120 × 26-degree field of view. Integrated perception software classifies objects and supports Level 3 and Level 4 applications. Valeo manufactures the sensors at automotive scale and supplies associated cleaning, heating and software, while the vehicle manufacturer remains responsible for the complete automated-driving system.
