outdoorScan3 is SICK's safety laser scanner for protecting people around mobile robots and stationary machinery in industrial outdoor areas. It monitors a 275-degree scan with protective fields extending four metres and warning fields extending 40 metres. Outdoor safeHDDM scanning and weather-handling functions address interference from sunlight, rain and snow, while fog conditions can trigger a safe stop.

The family separates Core I/O models from Pro models using CIP Safety over EtherNet/IP or PROFINET PROFIsafe. Core offers eight fields and two monitoring cases; Pro offers up to 128 of each. Safety Designer provides configuration and diagnostics. Modular weather protection and the optional airWiper help maintain availability in wet conditions. The scanner is rated PL d, SIL 2 and Type 3, with installation and safety-system design governed by the selected model and application.
