About Tokyo Robotics
Torobo is built around joint torque sensing and impedance control, allowing the robot to regulate contact force and yield during manipulation. Whole-body balance control and zero-moment-point monitoring help the humanoid move and recover while operating its arms around human-scale workspaces.
Torobo Hand and Torobo Puppet extend the platform into dexterous manipulation and bilateral teleoperation. Tokyo Robotics supports ROS, MuJoCo and Isaac Sim, allowing researchers to develop policies in simulation, collect human demonstrations and transfer control to physical humanoid or dual-arm hardware.

- 2026-04-02 - Demonstration - Tokyo Robotics unveils bipedal humanoid prototype with RL-based walking and whole-body teleoperation
Tokyo Robotics published a new demonstration showing a full-body humanoid prototype performing human-like walking, push recovery, and real-time whole-body teleoperation. The company's latest humanoid materials also show reinforcement-learning-based bipedal walking workflows tied to Isaac Sim and MuJoCo, indicating the prototype is being developed through simulation-trained control rather than only scripted motion. In the company's announcement, Tokyo Robotics said it is currently developing a full-body humanoid and plans to improve hardware and software stability while adding autonomous task AI.
Source - 2024-07-02 - Capability - Tokyo Robotics starts offering remote-control robot solutions for hazardous maintenance work
Tokyo Robotics announced the start of a remote-control robot solution business built on its dual-arm robot and mobile manipulator technologies. The company said it would customize robots and teleoperation devices to customer requirements and highlighted applications such as maintenance work on high-voltage power lines. The release framed the offer as a deployable solutions capability, not just an internal research demonstration.
Source - 2024-06-10 - Product Launch - Tokyo Robotics launches new models of Torobo and Torobo Hand
Tokyo Robotics announced new versions of its force-controllable full-body humanoid robot Torobo and its multi-finger Torobo Hand. The company said the new models were aimed at research on robot motion generation linked with AI and at industrial work requiring human-like upper-body manipulation. The launch expanded the company's core humanoid and hand platforms rather than introducing a one-off demo unit.

The initial offering focused on boxes such as shoe boxes and provided configurations reaching shelves about 2.6 or 3.9 metres high. Tokyo Robotics quoted throughput of around 60 pieces per hour per robot, with existing shelving, batch sorting and battery exchange among the available operating options.
Source - 2023-09-26 - Demonstration - Tokyo Robotics joins NTT Communications-led data center maintenance robot demonstration
NTT Communications, Tokyo Robotics, NHN Techorus, and E-MARK announced a demonstration for IT equipment operation and maintenance work in commercial data-center environments using real-time remote-control robots. The release said the trial would start in October 2023 and would verify the effectiveness of telepresence robots for tasks such as checking server equipment in operating data centers. The announcement described it as the world's first demonstration of operation and maintenance work on IT equipment in commercial data centers using real-time remote-control robots.
Source - 2021-12-16 - Funding - Tokyo Robotics raises JPY 200 million through an Igarashi alliance
The companies had already collaborated on motor manufacturing, design know-how and joint performance tests before formalising their capital and business alliance. Tokyo Robotics still described the financing as seed-stage and planned to use it for product development, customer acquisition and hiring, including its Mobile Gripper line.
Source - 2020-01-21 - Funding - Tokyo Robotics signs investment and technology partnership with Yamaha Motor
Yamaha Motor said it signed a contract to become a convertible bondholder of Tokyo Robotics and to provide both investment and technology support. The announcement said Yamaha aimed to build on Tokyo Robotics' strengths in collaborative robots to expand the scale and coverage of its industrial robotics business. The transaction was positioned as both capital support and a technology collaboration rather than a standalone financial raise.
