HII Unmanned Systems
About
About HII Unmanned Systems
The REMUS family ranges from portable REMUS 130 and REMUS 300 vehicles to REMUS 620 and deep-water REMUS 6000 systems. Modular payload sections support mine countermeasures, seabed mapping, ISR, environmental monitoring and offshore inspection across depths from 100 to 6,000 metres.
Odyssey provides the common autonomy and command layer across REMUS underwater vehicles and ROMULUS surface vessels. Operators can plan, monitor and replan missions while the platforms coordinate sensors and behaviours locally. HII has delivered more than 750 REMUS vehicles and supports payload integration, simulation, training and lifecycle sustainment.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-09-22 - Facility Opening - HII opens 10,000-square-foot Pocasset unmanned-systems expansion
The site builds and integrates REMUS underwater vehicles and ROMULUS unmanned surface vessels. Added capacity supports Lionfish small UUV production and the REMUS 620 programme. HII says Odyssey autonomy integration and simulation work will also use the expanded campus.
Source - 2026-08-11 - Demonstration - DIU recognizes successful completion of HII and MetalCraft ROMULUS-25 prototype programme
MetalCraft Marine supplied the 25-foot Watcher hull while HII integrated its Odyssey autonomous-control software, creating the ROMULUS-25 configuration evaluated through the programme. The two prototypes were delivered in December 2025 and subsequently demonstrated autonomous mission behaviours during at-sea testing for the U.S. Marine Corps. Successful prototype completion allows the Department of War to consider follow-on production through an Other Transaction Agreement without reopening a conventional competition.
