Teledyne Marine launched the Redwing Slocum Sentinel glider on a global ocean mission.

  • Redwing entered the Atlantic about 43 miles southeast of Woods Hole from the research vessel Ocean Researcher.
  • The five-year Sentinel Mission aims to complete the first global circumnavigation by an autonomous underwater vehicle.
  • Teledyne and Rutgers operate joint mission control, with more than 50 Rutgers students contributing flight tools and navigation software.
