Koito completes acquisition of Cepton at $56M implied equity value

Koito completed its acquisition of Cepton on January 7, 2025 at $3.17 per share. Official transaction analysis calculated a $56.0 million implied equity value for Cepton and a separate $105.0 million implied enterprise value; the equity value is used for the acquisition-implied valuation.

Koito completed its acquisition of Cepton, making the LiDAR company a privately held indirect US subsidiary and combining its sensing technology with Koito automotive manufacturing scale.

Cepton develops high-performance LiDAR sensors for automotive, smart-infrastructure and industrial applications. Founded in San Jose in 2016, the company uses its Micro Motion Technology scanning architecture to target compact, reliable and scalable perception. Cepton became a Koito Group company in January 2025, pairing its sensing technology with an established automotive Tier 1 manufacturing and customer base.
