About Vivum
Vivum’s Evolutionary AI approach uses dynamic neural models intended to adapt as an embodied system encounters changing physical conditions. The architecture treats deployment as a stage of model development and revises its internal behaviour from operating feedback while retaining an explainable representation of why decisions change. The target is autonomy that can remain useful as environments, hardware and mission conditions drift.
A robot or vehicle manufacturer integrates the model layer with its sensors, control system and simulation environment, then trains and validates behaviour before running it at the edge. Vivum positions the approach for physical systems that must act under uncertainty across aircraft, vehicles and other machines. Its role is therefore the adaptive decision model between perception and machine control, with the customer supplying the body, low-level safety systems and application-specific operating rules.
Team
- Aldo Carrascoso - CEO and Co-Founder - Carrascoso leads Vivum AI as it develops evolutionary AI for autonomous vehicles, advanced robotics, and edge devices.
- Derek Whitley - CTO and Co-Founder - Leads Vivum's technical work on adaptive neural models for constrained hardware and is the CTO contact for its Navy dynamic-neural-UMV programme.
- Justin Slattery - Director of Artificial Intelligence and Applied Ethics - Slattery connects Vivum AI's autonomy research with applied ethics, evolutionary systems, swarm dynamics, and autonomous navigation.

- 2025-03-05 - Interview - Vivum AI CTO discusses adaptive neural models for unmanned systems
The neural models continuously integrate sensory input on constrained onboard hardware. A quadcopter retained limited navigation on three rotors and landed after a motor failure, Whitley said. His approach targets existing flight controllers without requiring dedicated GPUs or high-power processors.
