About COVAL

COVAL develops the vacuum layer used to grip and move workpieces in automated production. Its range spans compact Venturi ejectors and multi-stage pumps, suction cups for different materials and geometries, vacuum switches and controls, modular area grippers, carbon grippers for collaborative robots and complete handling systems. Air Saving Control and Air Saving Regulator technologies reduce compressed-air use by matching vacuum generation to the actual holding requirement, while IO-Link and fieldbus products expose diagnostics and operating parameters to the wider machine-control system.

Founded in 1986 and based in Montelier, France, COVAL sells through international subsidiaries and an authorised distributor network. Piab Group acquired the company in March 2023; at announcement COVAL had EUR 23 million in annual turnover, 135 employees and sales across 60 countries. It continues as an active Piab subsidiary with its own product, engineering and management organisation, serving robot integrators, machine builders and production operators.

  • 2026-03-25 - Product Launch - COVAL introduces communicating MPXS micro vacuum pumps

    The 12.5 mm-wide, 87 g pump supports installation close to the suction tool on robots and automated equipment. The range combines an HMI, IO-Link communications, diagnostics and configurable vacuum and blow-off control. Air Saving Control is specified to reduce energy use by an average of 90% when handling airtight products.

  • 2024-06-13 - Product Launch - COVAL launches second-generation CVGC carbon vacuum grippers

    The carbon body is designed to be ultra-light and compact for collaborative robot payload and safety constraints. Three standard sizes can use foam or suction-cup interfaces and versions with or without an integrated vacuum generator. Multiple mounts and cables support integration with major cobot brands for palletising, packaging and plastics handling.

  • 2024-04-16 - Product Launch - COVAL introduces CMS M multi-stage mini vacuum pumps

    The range provides up to 80% vacuum with suction-flow options above 300 and 550 normal litres per minute. Customers can configure vacuum and blow-off control, normally closed or normally open operation, and two exhaust arrangements. The multi-stage Venturi architecture is designed to deliver high suction flow at low vacuum while reducing compressed-air consumption.

  • 2023-09-24 - Product Launch - COVAL launches CTC bell suction cups for sheet metal

    The bell geometry combines the strength and anti-slip behaviour of a flat cup with the deflection of a bellows cup. TPU construction and anti-slip cleats target oily, convex and angular sheet-metal parts in high-speed handling. COVAL offered four diameters from 40 to 100 mm and multiple mounting configurations for press feeding, transfer and storage workflows.

  • 2023-03-28 - Acquisition - Piab Group acquires COVAL

    COVAL joined Piab with EUR 23 million in turnover, 135 employees and commercial presence across 60 countries. Piab said COVAL added vacuum cups, pumps and grippers serving packaging, automotive, plastics and aerospace production. The transaction moved the family-owned French vacuum specialist into Piab Group and was funded through internal and external sources.
