About Gimatic
Gimatic develops end-of-arm tooling and handling components for industrial and collaborative robots. Its portfolio combines pneumatic and electric grippers, vacuum generators and suction products, quick tool changers, sensors, rotary units, linear actuators and modular EOAT structures. The company also designs application-specific tooling through automation centres that cover engineering, assembly, installation and after-sales support for plastics, packaging, food, pharmaceutical, automotive, logistics and general factory-automation work.
Founded in 1985 in the Brescia area, Gimatic expanded from sensors and pneumatic grippers into mechatronics, vacuum technology and complete robot tooling. Barnes Group completed its acquisition of Gimatic for EUR 370 million on 31 October 2018. Apollo-managed funds acquired Barnes in January 2025, and Barnes was separated in October 2025 into Barnes Aerospace and The Industrial Solutions Group. Gimatic now sits in the Automation business of The Industrial Solutions Group while continuing to operate under its own brand from Roncadelle.
