About Opto Engineering
Opto Engineering designs optical components and complete imaging systems for machine vision. Its range includes telecentric, macro, fixed-focal-length and 360-degree lenses alongside industrial cameras, illuminators, filters and image-processing software.
Telecentric lenses suppress perspective error so inspection systems can measure parts accurately despite small changes in object distance. Pericentric and catadioptric optics capture several sides of cylindrical or complex objects in one image, reducing the number of cameras required. Standard and customised assemblies serve dimensional inspection, electronics, pharmaceuticals, packaging and robotic guidance.

- 2025-10-30 - Capability - ITALA camera platform gains ARM support and reliability updates
ITALA firmware 3.0.0 improves packet-transmission robustness and updates autofocus and polarization-computation performance. SDK version 2025.09.26 adds ARM support for embedded, low-power and AI-oriented systems.

The HCN family is designed for 360-degree inspection of holes and cavities down to 0.75 millimetres in diameter. The lenses image the inner walls and cavity bottoms simultaneously from above, without inserting a probe.

The ITALA family marked Opto Engineering’s move into industrial camera design and manufacturing. The initial portfolio included ITALA G GigE Vision PoE cameras and ITALA G.EL models with integrated liquid-lens control. Opto Engineering scheduled the official world-premiere launch for Vision Stuttgart on October 4–6, 2022.

PCCD2M is optimized for one-inch sensors and inspects objects from 7 to 35 millimetres in diameter. Its catadioptric design captures high-resolution top and lateral views in one shot without rotating the part or adding cameras. Target applications include inline inspection of pharmaceutical containers, caps, preforms, bottlenecks and threaded components.
