About Samsung Electro-Mechanics
Samsung Electro-Mechanics is adapting camera-module technology developed for smartphones and vehicles to the perception requirements of humanoid robots. High-pixel modules provide detailed imagery for object recognition and interaction, while autofocus mechanisms maintain image quality as a robot changes distance from people or workpieces.
Its development roadmap also includes longer-range three-dimensional sensing and hybrid lenses intended to improve optical performance while controlling module size and cost. The camera business sits alongside Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ MLCC and package-substrate operations, giving robot manufacturers access to perception, passive components and electronics-packaging capability from one supplier.
