About SiCrystal
SiCrystal manufactures monocrystalline silicon carbide wafers in Nuremberg, Germany. Its process spans preparation of source material, high-temperature crystal growth, mechanical wafer processing, semiconductor-grade cleaning and final clean-room inspection. Commercial wafers are supplied to semiconductor manufacturers, with engineering grades available for research and development.
The company traces its roots to a 1994 crystal-growth project, was formed in 1996 and became wholly owned by ROHM in 2010. Its products are upstream substrates for efficient power devices. Robotics relevance is limited to the power-electronics chain, including motor drives, inverters and compact high-voltage conversion systems.
