About Tombot

Tombot combines robotic engineering with animatronic design to make interaction with Jennie feel familiar. Touch sensors detect where and how the puppy is being petted, and servo-driven movements produce responses such as leaning into a hand. Voice commands and recorded puppy sounds add further ways for a user to engage with the device.

Jim Henson's Creature Shop contributed the animal's visual and physical design. Tombot's planned ownership experience includes rechargeable operation and software updates, with a smartphone app for configuration by users or caregivers. The robot is intended to provide an animal-like companion for people unable to care for a live pet, with its interactions built around touch, sound and responsive movement.
