Upside Robotics is developing a 150-pound autonomous machine for targeted nutrient application in maize and other row crops. The 22-inch-wide vehicle fits between 30-inch rows, carries a 50-litre tank and uses live soil, weather and crop-stage information to vary nutrient placement. Its lightweight form is intended to reduce compaction from repeated in-season passes.

A base station supports automatic refilling, a full battery recharge is stated at 60 minutes, and the robot is designed for roughly ten hours of battery operation. Upside describes coverage near one acre per hour and up to 100 acres per week per machine. These figures remain manufacturer targets from an active field-development programme, so the profile keeps them qualified and does not infer broad commercial deployment.
