M40P

OceanAlpha’s M40P is a 4.5-metre hybrid catamaran USV for inshore and coastal hydrographic and geophysical surveys. Two electric outboards propel the vessel, while a diesel generator extends range by charging the batteries. Operators can shut down the generator during acquisition when a quieter, locally emission-free operating period is needed around sensitive instruments.

An auto-lifter deploys and protects wet-end survey equipment, with an automatic winch available for other payloads. Radar, AIS and HD cameras feed the perception system, while onboard software provides autonomous navigation and obstacle avoidance. The stable catamaran and tight turning radius support survey lines and inspection around offshore structures. M40P is the diesel-electric member of OceanAlpha’s M40 series; electric M40A and gasoline M40G characteristics remain separate.
