HydroCat-550

HydroCat-550 is a 5.5-metre aluminium catamaran for pre-planned hydrographic surveys from inland water to rough nearshore areas. Individually articulating pontoons and a gimballed deck help isolate instruments from hull motion, while a retractable pole carries sonar below the surface. Dual independently controlled electric outboards and an onboard industrial computer execute survey lines with the configured navigation and sensing package.

Seafloor Systems lists a 365-kilogram equipment payload, maximum speed of 12 knots and preferred survey speed between 2.5 and four knots. Four batteries provide a stated four to 18 hours at survey speed or about 1.5 hours at maximum speed under ideal conditions; extra batteries extend survey endurance. Trailer transport supports field deployment. Sea state, payload, speed, communications and sensor power determine the usable mission duration.
