Ocean Infinity and Kraken extend HUGIN endurance with new batteries
The companies developed a 6,000-metre pressure-tolerant battery system for Ocean Infinity’s HUGIN AUVs.
Why it matters
The tested Kraken battery doubled HUGIN endurance to more than 100 hours, extended stated range to nearly 700 kilometres per AUV and halved launch-and-recovery operations, while the cross-company HUGIN FK remains intentionally unbound.

Evidence notes
- The battery enabled missions lasting more than 100 hours on one charge.
- The new system more than doubled the vehicles’ previous endurance.
- Longer missions reduced launch and recovery operations by 50 percent.
