About Grid Aero
Grid Aero is developing Lifter, an uncrewed cargo aircraft intended to move thousands of pounds over thousands of miles. The design emphasises a rugged airframe, few moving parts, a conventional powertrain and rapid assembly and repair, allowing aircraft and spares to be distributed without the support footprint of complex crewed transports.
The autonomy stack combines conventional flight controls with AI-assisted adaptation from take-off through delivery, including operation across long routes and disrupted environments. Fleet-level supervision is designed so a small ground team can direct dozens of aircraft as a mesh, adding range and redundancy as more Lifters join the network. Grid targets contested military resupply, intelligence support, aerial refuelling and drone-carrier roles alongside regional cargo, e-commerce, essential-air-service and disaster-response missions. The California company remains in aircraft and network development rather than established fleet operation.
