About Windracers
Windracers combines an aircraft programme with the services needed to plan and execute payload missions. ULTRA can deliver cargo between landing points, use parachute drops when landing is unsuitable, or carry equipment for survey and environmental data collection. These operating modes allow the same aircraft family to be arranged around different payload and destination requirements.
Its autopilot uses a distributed architecture, while Mission Control provides the operator’s planning and oversight interface. Windracers Operations can deliver a mission as a service or work with a customer’s own team and partners. The company therefore manages the connection between aircraft configuration, mission software and operational support, including work in places with limited transport infrastructure.

The selection places the company’s heavy-lift, long-range unmanned aircraft in a UK government programme supplying systems to Ukraine. Its inclusion also gives the programme a UK-developed cargo platform designed for resilient operations across extended distances.

The 2,000 km range milestone was announced at the Windracers LAUNCH 2026 event. Windracers said ULTRA supports payloads above 150 kg over long-range missions. The event included a fully autonomous flight mission demonstration at Llanbedr Airfield.

The approved corridor covered 378 kilometres across UK and Norwegian airspace. Windracers described it as the first UK civil UAS approval for an international operation. The approval used temporary danger areas and applied to a defined flight operation, not unrestricted route certification.
