MedSort accepts a mixed tote of returned medicines and uses machine vision to identify each item before a robotic mechanism places it into user-defined sorting categories. The system can work with a pharmacy’s existing medication-storage arrangement, turning a loose stream of returned stock into organised inventory ready for restocking or further review.
The robot is designed to perform the repetitive recognition, handling and categorisation work normally completed by pharmacy technicians. Inception develops the mechanics, electronics, perception and control software together and has tested the system in live pharmacy environments, including calibration around real packaging, storage layouts and operating processes.

- 2026-01-15 - Award - Inception Robotics selected for 2026 Healthcare Robotics Catalyst cohort
The five-month programme connects participating companies with corporate mentors, clinicians and the Boston robotics ecosystem. Inception Robotics was selected for MedSort, a robotic system for sorting returned medicines in pharmacy workflows. The cohort was scheduled to culminate with a showcase at the Robotics Summit & Expo in May 2026.
