About
About Clearpath Robotics
Clearpath Robotics supplies configurable mobile bases for research teams building navigation, perception and manipulation systems. Jackal and Husky cover compact and mid-size unmanned ground work, Warthog provides an amphibious high-payload platform, and Dingo, Ridgeback and TurtleBot 4 address indoor development and education. Husky A300 adds a weatherproof chassis and expanded compute and payload interfaces for current ROS 2 programmes.
Each platform arrives with supported drivers, onboard sensing and mechanical or electrical interfaces for additional cameras, LiDAR, arms and scientific instruments. Jackal includes GPS, IMU and an onboard computer for field autonomy, while Warthog carries up to 272 kg and can travel through mud, snow and water at speeds up to 18 km/h. Developers retain access to the ROS software layer and documentation, allowing them to change algorithms and hardware rather than work through a closed fleet system. Clearpath is part of Rockwell Automation but remains focused on research and development platforms distinct from the production-oriented OTTO AMR line.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-09-15 - Demonstration - Clearpath Robotics details Husky AMP autonomous soil-sampling demonstration
The configuration added a custom drill, sample-transfer conveyor, cameras and application sensors to the Husky AMP platform. OutdoorNav carried the system along predefined routes; the drill collected material and onboard cameras supported initial particle-size analysis. Ontario Centre of Innovation’s Centre for Critical Industrial Technologies supported the project, which remained in research and development.
Source - 2025-08-07 - Demonstration - Clearpath demonstrates Hovermap integration on Jackal UGV
Clearpath mounted Emesent's self-contained Hovermap LiDAR mapping unit on a Jackal UGV and operated it at an outdoor industrial facility. The integration combined Jackal's ground mobility with Hovermap's SLAM-based 3D capture for mapping areas that are difficult to survey manually. The demonstration showed how the sensor package can extend a research UGV into repeatable industrial reality-capture workflows.
Source - 2025-04-08 - Award - Husky A300 wins 2025 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award
Clearpath Robotics announced that Husky A300 had received a 2025 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award. The company said the award recognised the launch of its next-generation rugged mobile platform for robotics research and development. The recognition provides an external product-validation milestone following Husky A300's 2024 announcement and planned early-2025 deliveries.
Source - 2025-01-23 - Capability - Clearpath Robotics commits to TurtleBot 4 support and stock-limited distribution
Clearpath had secured Create 3 inventory with iRobot and anticipated hardware availability into mid-2026. The company committed to supporting TurtleBot 4’s ROS 2 Jazzy release at least through 2026 and directed support inquiries to its GitHub project.
Source - 2024-10-15 - Product Launch - Clearpath Robotics announces Husky A300 and autonomous Husky AMP
Husky AMP added pre-integrated navigation sensors, a web interface and optional wireless docking to the A300 chassis. The A300 launch introduced four brushless drive motors, IP54 protection and ROS 2 Jazzy software support. Clearpath planned early-2025 deliveries; application payloads and sensors could be integrated through the mounting deck and OutdoorNav interface.
Source - 2023-09-05 - Acquisition - Rockwell Automation signs agreement to acquire Clearpath Robotics
Rockwell Automation announced a definitive agreement to acquire Clearpath Robotics, describing the company as a leader in autonomous robotics for industrial applications. The transaction would bring both Clearpath's research robotics business and its industrial AMR offering OTTO Motors into Rockwell's portfolio. Rockwell framed the deal as a way to expand end-to-end autonomous production logistics capabilities for manufacturing customers.
Source - 2023-03-14 - Product Launch - Clearpath Robotics launches Husky Observer
The A200-based system integrated OutdoorNav with a browser interface for autonomous missions and remote teleoperation. Its sensing package supported image, video and audio capture, with thermal sensing available as an option and a ROS API for custom inspection actions.
Source - 2022-05-04 - Product Launch - Clearpath opens TurtleBot 4 Standard and Lite orders
Both models combined an iRobot Create 3 base, Raspberry Pi 4, 2D LiDAR, stereo camera and an automatic charging dock. Standard added accessible powered USB, power breakouts and a top mounting plate for additional hardware. The May 2022 Clearpath release quoted starting prices of US$1,850 for Standard and US$1,195 for Lite, with shipments planned for July 2022.
Source - 2020-06-01 - Funding - OTTO Motors closes $29 million Series C
Series C: USD 29,000,000. Kensington Private Equity Fund led or provided the financing. Capital supports expand its autonomous mobile robot platform globally.
Source - 2020-04-21 - Partnership - Xsens appoints Clearpath Robotics as an MTi-series distributor
Clearpath Robotics was appointed as an authorized distributor of Xsens MTi-series inertial sensors. The agreement covered Canada and the eastern United States and enabled customers to buy MTi-series units through Clearpath. Xsens positioned the channel for robotics researchers using platforms including Warthog, Boxer and Heron, without claiming those platforms were factory-equipped.
Source - 2020-04-16 - Demonstration - Clearpath integrates Accerion positioning for precise mobile-robot navigation
Accerion’s optical positioning system scans the floor while the robot moves, measuring pure displacement to deliver submillimeter-level accuracy and high speed without special floor infrastructure. The system was integrated with Clearpath’s Jackal UGV, which Accerion used daily in its labs for development, testing and customer demonstrations. Accerion’s Jupiter and Triton models support all-in-one or add-on positioning, while its virtual line-following approach lets robots change routes without physically painted lines; the source also cites a U.S. packaging customer using Jackal robots.
Source - 2019-11-04 - Product Launch - Clearpath Robotics announces Dingo indoor research robot
The modular platform offered configurable computing, battery modules and accessible payload power and communication ports. The launch described navigation, mapping and mobile-manipulation development, with encoders, programmable front LEDs and tutorial support for classrooms. The original November 2019 range announcement quoted speeds up to 1.3 m/s and payloads up to 20 kg, with differential and omnidirectional configurations planned.
