Dematic designs and delivers end-to-end automation for warehouses and distribution centres. Its technology portfolio includes AGVs and AMRs, conveyors and sortation, AutoStore and Multishuttle storage, pallet shuttle, robotic picking, palletisation and micro-fulfilment, with Dematic Software and Command Center providing control and operational visibility.
The company acts as a systems designer, integrator and lifecycle-service provider: receiving, transport, storage, fulfilment and shipping are combined around the customer's facility and inventory flow. Dematic reports more than 9,000 installations and ten manufacturing centres, but those company-wide figures do not specify a single system's throughput or availability. Layout, software configuration, equipment mix, safety validation and operating model remain site-specific.

The projects cover two distinct Australian facilities in Queensland and Victoria. Dematic will integrate high-density AutoStore storage with manual picking and downstream processing. The September 15 announcement is a project appointment, not a claim that either installation is operational.

The brownfield installation uses 18 R5 robots, 25,770 bins and six ports across a 24-level Grid, with SAP EWM integration for real-time inventory management. The installation processes about 2,200 order lines per day, has handled more than 700,000 order lines and maintains near-100% uptime. The operation reduced its footprint from 5,000 m² to 560 m² while supporting 16,000 SKUs, with the project moving from contract signing to go-live in six months.

The brownfield installation went live in 2023 with a 16,750-bin grid, 34 R5 robots, 10 ports and WMS integration for real-time inventory control. Picking improved 67%, from about 300 to more than 500 lines per hour, and urgent orders can be processed within five to 10 minutes. The system adds 1,000 m² of available warehouse space, reduces walking and physical strain, and can expand through more robots, bins and grid modules; Dematic is the named integration partner.

Dematic said ProMat 2025 visitors would see interactive in-booth demonstrations focused on supply-chain automation. The demo set included AutoStore, autonomous mobile robots, Dematic Multishuttle and the Eurofork 4es automation system. The agreed purchase price was about $2.1 billion. Dematic added warehouse automation and supply-chain optimization systems to KION's industrial-truck and services business. KION completed the takeover on 1 November 2016 and acquired 100 percent of Dematic's shares.
