About Rainbow Robotics
RB-Y1 mounts two seven-axis arms and a six-axis lifting body on a fast wheeled base. Whole-body control manages its centre of gravity, while master-arm teaching allows an operator to create coordinated bimanual movements for industrial and research tasks.
Rainbow also supplies RB-series collaborative arms, RBQ quadrupeds and humanoid research platforms descended from KAIST’s HUBO programme. RB-Y1 is sold in research and commercial configurations, supported by manuals, a GitHub environment and optional AI-development sensors.

Source - 2026-09-17 - Demonstration - Rainbow Robotics humanoid assistants support simulated surgery in Korean project
One robot recognised instruments by camera rather than fixed position and handed them to the surgeon on voice command, while the other held the endoscope using visual servoing to follow the surgeon's instrument movements and pulled tissue on request. The project is led by Samsung Seoul Hospital with the National Cancer Center, Jeonbuk National University Hospital, the industry-academic foundations of Seoul National University and Sungkyunkwan University, and companies including Rainbow Robotics, AIDIN Robotics and Ha Haeho. The work is at proof-of-concept stage roughly 15 months into a five-year programme building an operating-room assistant robot, an approach the team contrasts with console-based surgical robots.
Source - 2026-09-13 - Regulatory - FCC rules halt Rainbow Robotics’ U.S. exports and pause RB-Y1 order
Rainbow Robotics’ U.S. exports have stopped under FCC restrictions that took effect July 28 for advanced foreign-made robots without new approval. A North American customer order covering tens of RB-Y1 mobile manipulators is paused rather than cancelled. Resuming exports may require conditional U.S. approval or a manufacturing and supply-chain structure that meets domestic-content requirements.
