About camfer
camfer is an AI design tool that operates inside SolidWorks. Engineers can describe a component in text, provide a reference image or ask questions about an existing model, and the software creates or modifies native CAD features rather than returning only a rendered concept.
Generated work remains visible in the SolidWorks feature tree, allowing the engineer to inspect dimensions, constraints and modelling operations and continue editing through normal CAD controls. The product is designed to reduce repetitive modelling and help users explore mechanical concepts while preserving the parametric structure needed for drawings, simulation and manufacture.

- 2024-12-10 - Award - Camfer wins OpenAI o1 hackathon with automated airfoil design
The demonstration generated five airfoil profiles for 50 mph operation with a requested minimum lift-to-drag ratio of 15 at a five-degree angle of attack. The system iterated between spline generation, simulated performance testing and design updates. Camfer also presented the demonstration at OpenAI DevDay 2024.
