SMP Robotics builds autonomous ground robots for outdoor security and industrial inspection. The S5 and Argus platforms combine rough-terrain mobility, cameras and thermal sensing with onboard analytics and remote fleet management.

The robots patrol perimeters, monitor oil, gas, power and other industrial sites, and send detected events to a central operator. SMP Cloud and SMP Store support fleet configuration and software updates, while the company offers purchase and RaaS operating models for continuous site coverage.

  • 2026-03-02 - Product Launch - SMP Robotics begins Argus S5.4 shipments with Jetson Orin NX

    The Argus S5.4 adds NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX for edge AI, deep video analytics and real-time third-party applications on the robot. Certified software modules can be distributed through SMP Store, extending the platform beyond autonomous patrol into inspection, industrial AI and security analytics. SMP also introduced a developer programme and commercial terms for qualified software partners deploying customer solutions on the platform.

  • 2019-01-28 - Deployment - Three SMP S5.2 robots begin coordinated patrols in Chile

    The deployment used three S5.2 robots equipped with intelligent video surveillance and multi-robot interaction. When one robot left its route to charge or stopped to observe a person, another robot took over the uncovered patrol segment. SMP specified three robots and one automatic charging station as the minimum group-patrol configuration at the time.

  • 2017-12-12 - Deployment - SMP S5.1 begins autonomous patrol at U.S. retail and warehouse site

    The autonomous S5.1 was assigned to perimeter and adjacent parking-lot monitoring at an unnamed large retail and warehouse site. Robotics Assistance Devices, SMP's exclusive North American assembly and distribution partner, customised the deployment and added AI capabilities for autonomous identification. The installation combined the all-terrain patrol platform with human security staff to extend coverage while reducing exposure to potentially dangerous situations.
