ABB GoFa fabricates biodiversity façade modules in TUM research project

A Technical University of Munich research project used ABB GoFa for additive manufacturing and post-processing of clay habitat modules for an experimental biodiversity façade.

  • The interdisciplinary TUM team developed climate-sensitive façade modules from 3D-printed ceramic clay.
  • GoFa supported precise material deposition and post-processing of the fragile elements.
  • The approximately 100-module façade prototype was inaugurated in Munich in July 2025 and entered a three-year monitoring period.

ABB's current Robotics division, supplying industrial and collaborative robots, autonomous mobile robots, controllers, software and application solutions. ABB signed a sale to SoftBank, but closing remains pending.
